Justine Henin

I found this nice article about Justine!
enjoy reading
Will Justine Henin be at her peak in time for the US Open?
Sharapova and the Williams sisters are building up on the hard court circuit while the world No 1 seems to be taking the easier route.
'I believe that her (Henin's) reluctance to play in the US and the ever decreasing gap between her and the other women, she will have a real fight on her hands'
Nobody could ever doubt the tennis talents and prowess of Justine Henin. She has been the first to qualify for the the Masters in Madrid, she has won one Grand Slam so far this year (the French Open) and she has won the most trophies of any player in 2007, with five.
Despite all this, however, the US hard courts, and especially the US Open, have not always been so kind to the Belgian with her lone final victory coming controversially over Kim Clijsters in 2003. Many believe that had "hawkeye" been around then, the outcome may have been different. So with Justine's reluctance to play the US hard court tournaments will it affect her preparation for the US Open?
On paper, it would seem that Justine really is currently a notch above most of the other women. She has a dynamic game from the back court and at the net, a good serve, a great backhand and she can mix up her game to throw her opponents off theirs. But one thing history has always shown is that complacency leads to decline.
While Justine is not playing matches, her rivals, Maria Sharapova, Jelena Jankovic and Venus Williams, are benefitting from getting match practice and getting used to the hard courts. Both Williams sisters have shown just how dangerous they can be in winning the other two Grand Slams this year (Australian Open and Wimbledon) and Sharapova too, is never far behind.
So in order to assess Justine's chances of doing well, we need to do three things. The first is to measure her performances at the Rogers Cup in Toronto, this should give us a good indication of her form right before the US Open.
The second: It would be handy to see the draw, but as this isn't possible, the next best think is to assess her competition.
Justine's arch rival, Sharapova, is doing very well and has marched into the semis of the Acura Classic in Carlsbad CA, so she is showing great form on the hard courts. Jelena Jankovic went out in the second round, so it's hard to see how she is going to pan out, but a few stand outs have already filtered through.
Elena Dementieva, a veteran on US hard courts and winner over Jankovic in LA last year has joined Sharapova in the semis, so she is one to watch, as is Anna Chakvetadze, who has quietly gone about winning Cincinnati and Stanford and is still alive in the Acura Classic also. Her next match is against Venus Williams so we should get a measure of both those girls in that match.
I think that all in all, Justine definitely has the fire power to win in New York, but I believe that her reluctance to play in the US and the ever decreasing gap between her and the other women, she will have a real fight on her hands. The hard courts make it harder for her crafty play to gain penetration and we all know the saying - practice makes perfect. At this level of tennis it is MATCH practice that makes perfect!
(maybe u noticed, that article is some days old. Maria Sharapova won the Acura Classics last sunday)

Hy peeps!!
At first KNUDDELTAKK nastek for the really nice article!
You know as for a Juddicted person from the bottom of my heart lol I would say, it's on the player to decide what she/he thinks is the best.
And Justine totally poved so many peoples wrong with their arguments that shes no longer the "real number one" (many lovely greetings here to tennismagazin , ich würd an der stelle gerne sagen ... ÄLLABÄTSCH!!! ).
She played many times only one tournament in preparation for a grand slam, and she often played wondeful tennis and stormed into final.
I also think the time in switzerlnd with the kids from her foundation means for Justine more than a preparation tornament. ANd I also think maybe its for her a better preperation (only my point of view 8-) )
lol you see, this article gives stuff for many discussions, also I hope we wont have a bad one lol
In summary is to say, when players think they need many events and mathes in front of a grand slam, then they shall do.
But when there is one player who believes and decides to play only one tournament as preparation, its her/ his fully right
So its like a liffhanger in writing lol, to be continued ...
And that makes the game and sport so anxious.
We will see at US Open, who has the best cards.
For that ... ALLE JUSTINE!!!!!
Knuddeltakk and sigurrose to you :rose:

Whether she will practice more or not on hard courts during this time doesn't really matter because a champion like Justine must be always ready for a Grand Slam like US Open, where anything can happen, because as always we can expect suprises and upset victories over top seeders.
Honestly I don't think Justine now is at a hundred percent condition... maybe not even 90 but a real champion comes out in the most important moments and I am quite confident that Justine will do a great open. Time will tell.

well in this forum we can merge posts and topics, split them, merge and split in one step, clone posts and threads...etc there are moderators around so they know what's the best to do! I am lazy in these days...
You can split the other topic and merge it in this one or I can create a belgian section if you want.

not sure whether you all know, but Justine made a photoshoot for Le Soir magazine.
"JUSTINE HENIN GLAMOUR MODEL FOR ARMANI.
Her rivals hardly laugh at Justine, but the number 1 has a weak point... Armani! She melts for the Italian guru, thus is Juju was particulary delighted when the desiginer himself proposed for the photoshoot, "She felt like a child in front of a shop window".
Nine months of negotiations between Justine's tennis management, Aramani company and Le Soir magazine - and the photo exclusive came to light. "It was lenghty work", sighed the Le Soir editor Michel Marteau. But the result can be seen. It was especially a question of the right schedules between all parties, and everyone involved were enthusiastic to take part in the shoot.
Last Wednesday everything fell into place. For the shoot a complete operation, nothing was left to chance, everything needed to be complete - a hotel in Brussels was rented. "A spectacle," testify Marteau, whom attended the shoot. The Italians prepared everything. "The professionalism dripped even from the walls (laughs). They had their own make up artist, stylist, image consultant, hairdresser, coordinators".
For eight hours Henin, who's usually in tuned on the tennis court appeared also to be queen and master on the set. "Everyone's heads were in the clouds with Justine. I know about her, but I've never seen her like this", said Marteau".
The shoot took eight hours, and Justine enjoyed it the most. Photo sessions such are time consuming. For each new photograph Henin was taken and styled by the Armani people. She had hair extensions for a number of photograph also implantated, but you want to accentuate, not exaggerate
Giorgio Armani had made a complete assortment to clothes available for Justine, but she picked her own favorites.
"I define my clothes style as rather casual. Jeans, sports clothes, t- shirts, nothing too decorative - simple. I like to emphasize me. Not be seen as someone that happens to be wearing an outfit", Justine said of her style.
Justine talked about a bit more and where's her state of mind is."The separation with Pierre-Yves has worked out well. At this moment my tennis career is my primary interest.Everything revolves around it. Children? now that's something I'm always interested in, and there will come a day that I will have time for my own children."
doesnt she look nice in these pics eh?
